Day 1: HANOI ARRIVAL

Day 2: VISIT MINORITY VILLAGE IN HOA BINH, HOMESTAY

Depart to Da Bac, a mountainous district of Hoa Binh. Enjoy beautiful scenery on the way.

Arrive Ke village, have lunch at a house in the village. After lunch, visit around the village.

Continue going deeper to the Community - Based Tourism (CBT) Project at Da Bia village of Muong ethnic group.

15:00 arrive at the village, meet the host and relax

Enjoy pure natural scenery, cycling around the village to see the local daily life, rowing raft on the lake…

You will also find many meaningful activities to help local residence: collect/classify/dispose household garbage; help cleaning school, help fishing on the lake… or any idea to improve their living condition.

Following the dinner is the dance show performed by the village’s girls and boys. Don’t hesitate to join the dance as it would be your very nice memorable. Overnight homestay

Day 3: COMMUNITY WORKS, RETURN TO HANOI

This morning, you may like to wake up early, do morning exercise then have breakfast.

Continue the community activities or enjoy soft trekking to visit around the village, boating in the Mong stream and visiting local’s fish farming cages…

Lunch at the homestay and relax.

Leave Da Bia village and take leisure cruise on Hoa Binh Lake to Thung Nai where you will get on your waiting bus to travel back to Hanoi.

Enjoy the show of Water Puppet which lasts for 45 minutes. This is a traditional and unique art of Vietnam depicting the local life and important history of northern Vietnamese people.

After the show, transfer to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight at hotel in Hanoi.

Day 4: ORGANIC FARM VISIT or CHARITY VISIT & HANOI CITY TOUR & HANOI HOME VISIT

OPTION 1: VISIT AN ORANIC FARM

  • Transfer to visit an organic farm located in the suburb of Hanoi. First you come to a farmer house and be guided to do organic vegetable pesticide and learn about its advantage.
  • Go to the farm and join your hand helping farmers in scattering seeds, weeding, watering; learn how to make green manure to fertilize the soil…
  • Lunch at the village. After lunch, return to Hanoi.

OPTION 2: CHARIT VISIT

  • Transfer to visit the Vietnam Friendship Village. Founded in 1992 by George Mizo, an American veteran of the Vietnam War who was interested in helping to repair the damage done to the Vietnamese people, the village was originally conceived of as a residence for orphaned children and elderly people suffering from the impact of Agent Orange. At the village, students can:

+ Play with children, teach them drawing pictures, singing or English lessons …

+ Distribute your gift you prepared (clothes, book, candy…) and subscription money…

      + Help tidy up rooms, cleaning the village…

  • Lunch at restaurant in the city
  • Explore the Old Quarters, the most crowded and busiest area in Hanoi by the traditional muscle-peddled cyclo (Pedi cab) to learn about the Hanoi old streets with its unique districts of artisan.
  • Taking photos at Opera House, a typical French colonial architecture remain, Hoan Kiem Lake considered as the heart of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
  • 18:00 The group is separated into smaller groups of 6 – 7 pax. Each small group are accompanied by a guide to visit a Hanoian home. The visit aims to give foreigners a unique chance to experience the local people’s daily life, and explore Vietnamese history, culture, religion through visiting, having dinner and talking to local family members.
  • Enjoy dinner with the local family with typical Vietnamese dishes, the tourists are explained about ingredients, the way to cook and how Vietnamese have those dishes. Besides, the guests also have the opportunity to see how three different generations in a Vietnamese extended family can live in harmony. Tourists may get interesting contemplation and comparison between Vietnamese and modern Western lifestyle and culture.

Day 5: HANOI - HA LONG: OVERNIGHT CRUISE ON THE BAY

Meet at your hotel in Hanoi & drive through the beautiful countryside of the Red River Delta. On the way, stop for refreshment break at a craft center run to raise money for the handicapped people in the village of Sao Do.

Arrive Ha Long pier at noon time, embarkation and cabin installation.

Welcome drink & fresh seafood lunch while the boat starts a romantic promenade to cruise around the Ha Long Bay to see the amazing karsts with different formations.

Passage into the magical bay, where thousands of sculpted limestone islands rise from the waves like dragons’ teeth.

After lunch, take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay dotted with golden sails, go swimming on a quite beach or sunbathing on the sundeck (if weather permits) or rowing kayak

Back on board, watching sunset and later unwind at restaurant for a lavish dinner.

Day 6: HA LONG – HANOI – HUE

Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi exercise with an opportunity to view sunrise over the bay.

After a light breakfast, we visit beautiful limestone grotto then back to the boat for a final glimpse of the Ha Long Bay during brunch is served.

Debarkation of the boat and return by car to Hanoi.

Arrive Hanoi around 16:30. Free shopping in the Old Quarter till dinner at restaurant.

Transfer to Railway station for night train to Hue. Overnight on train.

Day 8: CHARITY VISIT, HUE CITY TOUR

Transfer to Duc Son pagoda or also called Duc Son orphanage. The orphanage founded in 1986 by Nun Minh Tu, she was heart stricken by the plight of the thousands of children in Hue orphaned by the war. She resolved to devote her life to easing the suffering of traumatized children.

At the orphanage you will have the opportunity to play, sing and dance with delightful Vietnamese children, and enjoy freshly cooked, delicious vegetarian dishes prepared by the nuns.

Afternoon: we visit the Imperial Citadel with Ngo Mon, Thai Hoa palace, imperial city and forbidden city.

Continue to visit the King Tu Duc mausoleum, which is a picturesque complex including his tomb and palace that emperor Tu Duc ordered the construction by himself when he was still alive. Dinner at restaurant. Overnight at hotel in Hue.

Day 9: HUE – DA NANG – HOI AN

Transfer to Da Nang, visit Cham Museum in Da Nang. The open-air museum was built according to ancient motifs of Champa architecture. More than 300 fascinating sandstone carving statues (altars, lingas, garudas, images of Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu) are the world's finest collection of ancient Cham stone carvings.

Lunch at restaurant in Da Nang. After lunch, proceed to Hoi An, then check in hotel.

Later in the afternoon: enjoy a walking tour through the Hoi An Old Quarter to visit the town's landmarks of Japanese Covered Bridge, ancient Assembly Hall, Phuc Kien Temple and a typical old house.

Day 10: BE FARMERS AT TRA QUE HERB VILLAGE

08:00 You will cycle to a local farm in Tra Que village.

A short stroll will take you around the vegetable garden and then you can join the farmers in preparing the land and fertilizing it with seaweed from the local lake. The following steps are raking the ground, sowing, watering, picking vegetables and many other gardening activities.

After all these activities, you will take a short rest and enjoy foot bath before getting to preparing lunch with a local family. Your lunch will consist of many local delicacies including ‘tam huu’ spring roll, Banh xeo or local pancake of people in Vietnam middle region. You can join the cooking with the chef on these meals.

After your morning excursions and your lunch, you will take a Vietnamese traditional post-prandial nap before learning how to harvest and wrap the vegetables.

Around 14.00:  bid farewell to your host family before riding back to Hoi An. Rest of the day is free at leisure till pick up time for dinner at restaurant in the city. Overnight at hotel.

Day 11: HOI AN – DANANG – HO CHI MINH CITY

Transfer to Danang airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). Greet at airport in HCMC, transfer for lunch at restaurant in the city.

PM: City tour of HCMC with main section of the city. First, we will visit the Reunification Hall (former Presidential Palace), make a short stop to go into the old classic Post Office as well as have a look at the Catholic Church called Notre Dame De Paris.

Later in the afternoon: visit and shopping at the fascinating Ben Thanh market

Dinner cruise on Sai Gon river. Overnight at hotel in Hcmc.

Day 12: CU CHI TUNNELS – HCMC, CHARITY VISIT

Meals: B L D

08:00 Transfer 75 km northward to Cu Chi Tunnel - one of the few remaining monuments to the fierce Vietnam War. Arrive Cu Chi after approx. 1,5 hours driving, visit the tunnel system. We can even crawl a part of the tunnel to experience the real life of the Vietnamese guerrillas, who used to use and live inside this system during the wartime.

Return to HCMC for lunch. After lunch, visit Thien An home. Founded in 1999, Thien An aims to bring visually impaired children in disadvantage opportunities to approach the comprehensive and appropriate education helping them develop all potentialities, and gain essential knowledge and skills to independently attain happy life and social integration. It’s now home and school of 30 visually impaired children.  Here you can help children to produce safety white canes for blind people or just simply play music and sing together.

Day 13: MEKONG DELTA, EXPERIENCE LOCAL DAILY WORK

We leave Saigon behind and head to Vietnam's rice basket of Mekong Delta. We will pass through idyllic, rural scenes until we arrive at Ben Tre, a peaceful town on the bank of the Mekong River (approximately 75km from HCMC)

Proceed to local pier, board local motorized boat on the Mekong river to visit a coconut candy workshop, a famous local specialty. You will see the candy production right in this place with the explanation of local guides.

Walking around village to visit local peasant for enjoying honey tea and fresh fruits while listening to traditional music “Tai Tu” – the lovely and romantic melody of one of the local artists in Mekong Delta.

Starting the special fishing activities of drying a fish- pond for catching fish and get the chance to grill and savor the taste of your catch.

Lunch served at Thoi Son Restaurant. After lunch, take rowing sampans along small canals covered with shady water-coconut trees.

Return to My Tho Pier by boat, proceed to visit the famous Vinh Trang pagoda, one of the biggest pagoda in the region. The beautiful structure features a mixture of Chinese, Vietnamese and Angkor (Cambodian) architectural styles. Return to HCMC.

Day 13: MEKONG DELTA, EXPERIENCE LOCAL DAILY WORK

We leave Saigon behind and head to Vietnam's rice basket of Mekong Delta. We will pass through idyllic, rural scenes until we arrive at Ben Tre, a peaceful town on the bank of the Mekong River (approximately 75km from HCMC)

Proceed to local pier, board local motorized boat on the Mekong river to visit a coconut candy workshop, a famous local specialty. You will see the candy production right in this place with the explanation of local guides.

Walking around village to visit local peasant for enjoying honey tea and fresh fruits while listening to traditional music “Tai Tu” – the lovely and romantic melody of one of the local artists in Mekong Delta.

Starting the special fishing activities of drying a fish- pond for catching fish and get the chance to grill and savor the taste of your catch.

Lunch served at Thoi Son Restaurant. After lunch, take rowing sampans along small canals covered with shady water-coconut trees.

Return to My Tho Pier by boat, proceed to visit the famous Vinh Trang pagoda, one of the biggest pagoda in the region. The beautiful structure features a mixture of Chinese, Vietnamese and Angkor (Cambodian) architectural styles. Return to HCMC.

Day 14: HCMC – DEPARTURE

Free at leisure or own activities till transfer to Apt for departure flight.
